Man Taken Into Custody Safely After Stand Off in Lower South River.

Update March 22 at 2:15 a.m.: RCMP officers have taken the man into custody safely. All evacuated residents can now return to their homes. Rogers Dr. will open to traffic shortly. Officers are still at the location, continuing with the investigation.


Update 8:10 p.m: An RCMP Crisis Negotiation Team is on scene, continuing their work. Officers are beginning to evacuate neighbouring homes to ensure everyone’s safety. Rogers Dr. is still closed at Liberty Ln. We will continue to provide updates as we have more information.


RCMP is in Lower South River on Rogers Dr. responding to a situation involving a man who barricaded himself inside a home. At this time, there is no immediate threat to anyone outside the home. We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of the man inside the home and our officers. A negotiator is on the way. Rogers Dr. is closed at Liberty Ln. Avoid the area to allow officers to do their work. We will provide updates as we have more information.
