79 Year Old Man Charged After Barricading Himself in Home.
RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment has charged a man who uttered threats and barricaded himself in a home in Tangier.
On March 10 at approximately 1:56 pm, police were called to a home in the 15000 block of Hwy. 7 and learned that a man inside the home had made threats related to weapons. When police arrived, officers learned that he was the only person in the house. The man continued to make threats and refused to exit.
The Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, and a crisis negotiator attended in addition to general duty officers.
The man exited the home after several hours and was safely arrested.
Guy Murphy, 79, of Tangier, was remanded into custody and had a first court appearance at Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 11. He is charged with one count of Uttering Threats.
Officers appreciated cooperation of neighbours and the public as they worked toward a peaceful resolution.
