Man in Custody After Reports to Police of Concerning Situation by Wellness Centre.
A brief lockdown was enacted at the Pictou County Wellness Centre on Tuesday evening after RCMP responded to reports of an armed man walking along Westville Road.
Pictou County District RCMP received calls around 5:15 p.m. reporting a man carrying weapons near the facility. Officers responded immediately and located the suspect, who was found to be carrying a BB gun and an axe.
The man was taken into custody without incident at approximately 5:30 p.m. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured during the event.
As a precaution, the wellness centre was temporarily locked down but has since resumed normal operations. RCMP have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
