Police Investigate After Merchandise in Excess of $10,000 Stolen From Business.

New Glasgow Regional Police charge a 45 year old male with multiple charges after damage and thefts from two retail stores, New Glasgow, N.S.

On December 20, 2025, New Glasgow Regional Police received a complaint from a local sports store reporting a male had damaged a display case and stole merchandise in excess of $10,000.

The suspect immediately fled the store before police arrival.

Investigation by NGRPolice had identified the male and the investigation continued.

On December 24, 2025, two (2) off-duty New Glasgow Regional Police officers observed the suspect male that was involved in an earlier investigation at another business.

As police responded, the off-duty members observed the male commit another theft at another business. The officers then placed him under arrest for theft just outside the business.

Kevin Charles Purcell (45) of Halifax, who had 3 warrants for his arrest, has been charged with the following:

Theft over $5000.00;

Theft under $5000.00;

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00;

Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00;

Failure to comply with probation x2;

Resist/Obstruct Peace officer;
Mischief under $5000.00;

Kevin Charles Purcell was remanded into custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
