Youth Charged with Firearm Offences Related to New Glasgow School Lockdown.
On October 21, at 11:50 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police received a report of a male youth in possession of a handgun at a nearby property on Park Street New Glasgow adjacent to North Nova Education Centre (NNEC).
New Glasgow Regional Police officers along with the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit and School Resource Offices Unit immediately responded to the area and to the North Nova Education Centre, where the high school immediately went on hold and secure.
New Glasgow Regional Police immediately were able to determine the youth’s location and 12:12 pm., he was located on Park Street and was safely taken into custody. The male youth had a small pack with a replica handgun located inside the pack.
The male youth has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous to The Public Peace, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Breach of Probation, Breach of Weapons Prohibition. He was remanded into custody will be appearing in Provincial Court in Pictou today.
The New Glasgow Regional Police thank the students, teachers and the public for their cooperation during this police response that led to the quick apprehension of the male.
