RCMP Investigate Break-in at Volunteer Fire Department in Barneys River.
Pictou County District RCMP is investigating a break-in at a volunteer fire department in Barneys River.
On October 30, at approximately 11 p.m., Pictou County District RCMP responded to a report of a break-in at a volunteer fire department in Barneys River. RCMP officers learned that approximately $35,000 worth of equipment had been stolen during the break-in and that the person(s) responsible had damaged the front door. The break-in is believed to have occurred between 11 p.m. on October 26 and 11 p.m. on October 30.
The items stolen are essential pieces of rescue equipment used to extricate victims from serious motor vehicle collisions or gain entry to buildings. The items include a set of “Jaws of Life”, Hurst cutters, Hurst electric ram, Stihl Power saw & a Milwaukee reciprocating saw. This specific equipment is needed by Firefighters in order to help people in danger and replacements are not readily available due to their specialized nature.
