Trenton Man Arrested in Relation to Weapon Offences.
Pictou County District RCMP has arrested a Trenton man in relation to weapon offences.
On November 7, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Pictou County District RCMP, fire services and EHS responded to a structure fire on Nelson Rd. in Millbrook, Pictou County. When RCMP officers arrived on Nelson Rd., they were met by two men who stated that another man, who had assaulted one of them, was still at the property.
Officers located the third man sitting in a pick-up truck near the fully engulfed home. When an officer attempted to make contact with him, a firearm was seen. The man, who was showing signs of intoxication, denied having a gun and refused to exit the vehicle.
A perimeter was secured to ensure the safety of the public, while EHS and fire services were advised to wait at a nearby location. Colchester County District RCMP officers, the RCMP Emergency Response Team and a Police Dog Service Team were also dispatched to the scene.
Approximately two hours later, RCMP officers safely arrested a 26-year-old Trenton man. He was transported to hospital by EHS for medical assessment.
During a search of his vehicle, a shotgun was seized by officers.
The man was later released on conditions and will attend Pictou Provincial Court on November 17, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. He’s facing charges of Assault, Unsafe Storage of a Firearm and Careless Use of a Firearm.
The investigation is ongoing.
