New Glasgow Regional Police/New Glasgow Fire Investigating Arson Behind Aberdeen Hospital.
New Glasgow Regional Police and the New Glasgow Fire Department are investigating two acts of arson that occurred in a wooded area behind the Aberdeen Hospital on East River Road, New Glasgow.
The fire was reported at 4:35 pm, May 30, 2023.
New Glasgow Regional Police and New Glasgow Fire Department immediately responded and upon investigation two fires were discovered within several feet of each other.
The New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Fire Department, preliminary investigation has determined that the fire(s) were intentionally set.
No one was injured in the fire and the fire was safely extinguished.
The New Glasgow Regional Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those involved or any information that may assist in the investigation.
Any deliberate fire set in any case, especially in these conditions, is a blatant disregard for public safety,” said Constable Ken Macdonald. “Conditions are extremely dry across the province, and restrictions are put in place to assist in reducing the risk of any additional fires.”
Fire Restrictions are in place for Nova Scotia until June 25 2023 or until conditions allow them to be lifted.
Province-wide ban on open fires – Open fires are not permitted anywhere in the province. The ban applies to fires in provincial parks and private campgrounds. It also applies to backyard campfires, brush burning and fireworks.
