Driver Charged With Speeding And Having Children Not Properly Restrained in The Vehicle.

Recently, RCMP Northwest Traffic Services stopped a motorist on Hwy. 104 near Salem, for driving 161 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The officer discovered that the two children on board, a three-year-old and a six-month-old, were not strapped into their car seats. The driver was charged with speeding and failing to have the young passengers properly restrained.

That same day, the same officer stopped another motorist on Hwy. 104 near Stanley for driving 145 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. The officer discovered a seven-year-old passenger with no booster seat. The driver was charged with speeding and failing to have the youth in a booster seat. Thankfully, the officer provided a new booster seat to the driver so they could continue to their destination safely.

Motorists MUST prioritize the safety of our youngest passengers, as well as those who share the road. We all have a role to play in keeping our roadways safe.
