Investigation Leads To Two Youths Facing Serious Charges.
The RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has arrested two youths in relation to an investigation into conspiracy to commit murder in Eastern Passage.
On February 7, at approximately noon, RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of threats at the Eastern Passage Education Centre. RCMP officers learned that two youths had made threats on social media to harm specific youths at the school.
An in-depth investigation, led by the General Investigation Section of the RCMP/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division with the assistance from the RCMP Community Action Response Team and RCMP Digital Forensic Services, was immediately initiated.
Officers worked closely with the school to gather initial information, which included the seizure of cell phones. That same day, it was determined that the two youths involved did not have access to firearms, other weapons or the school.
Out of precaution, RCMP officers maintained a daily presence at the school.
On February 8, search warrants were executed at two homes linked to the youths. During the searches, officers located and seized multiple mobile and electronic devices.
Yesterday, the two youths, accompanied by their parents, attended the Cole Harbour RCMP Detachment where they were safely arrested.
The youths were both released on conditions to their parents/guardians. They are scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Justice Court on February 22, 2024, to face charges of Uttering Threats and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
RCMP Victim Services has been engaged and the investigation remains ongoing.
No further information will be disclosed to protect the identity of the victims and two youths arrested.
