Man Facing Serious Charges After Collision With Police Car.
Halifax Regional Police has charged a man in relation to a collision that occurred this morning in Bedford.
At approximately 6:25 a.m. officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving dangerously on Hammonds Plains Road headed toward Bedford. The vehicle had been reported stolen to police earlier today. Officers located the vehicle in the 800 block of the Hammonds Plains Road. The driver of the vehicle drove into a marked police cruiser in the opposite lane causing significant damage to both vehicles. The driver was arrested without further incident.
The roadway was closed, and traffic was redirected for a short time. There were no reported injuries as a result of the collision.
Travis Blanchard, 31, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:
- Assaulting a peace officer with a weapon
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Motor vehicle theft
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Failure to comply with conditions of a court order (x4)
