43 Year Old Man Charged With Multiple Serious Offenses.

A Windermere man has been charged with numerous offences through an investigation led by Kings District RCMP with the assistance of the Valley Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU), Kings District General Investigation Section, Annapolis District RCMP and Kentville Police Service.

On July 22, Kings District RCMP received a report that a woman had been held at a residence and threats were made to her safety.

As part of the investigation, the Valley Integrated SCEU, with assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team and Kings District RCMP, executed a warrant at a home on Cleveland Rd. in Windermere on July 24. Officers safely arrested a 43-year-old man inside the residence.

In a subsequent search of the home, officers seized ammunition and weapons believed to be used in the commission of the offences on July 22.

Joel Matthew Gibson has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering Threats (3 counts)
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Possession Contrary to Order (8 counts)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (5 counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (3 counts)
  • Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (3 counts)
  • Careless Use of Firearm (3 counts)
  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition (3 counts)

Gibson was held in custody and appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on July 24 where he was remanded into custody and will next appear in Windsor Provincial Court on July 26.
