Upgrades to Community Facilities For Pictou Island.
Pictou Island residents and visitors will benefit from upgrades to community facilities with a provincial grant.
The Pictou Island Community Association, which is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of the island, is receiving funding for repairs to the Pictou Island church and hall, including replacing the front steps and accessibility ramp, roof and siding work, and other repairs.
“Culture, recreation and social activities are essential parts of community life, and that is what the Pictou Island church and community hall are – essential to this community,” said Pictou West MLA Marco MacLeod, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “Investing in the spaces that support community activities helps ensure ongoing community spirit, togetherness and inclusivity for all residents.”
The grant is part of a series of announcements taking place across the province.
