Two Arrested For Serious Offences After Search Warrant at Residence.

On September 26 at approximately noon, officers from Meteghan RCMP general duty and Yarmouth/Clare Street Crimes Enforcement Unit (SCEU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Maza Rd. as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

During the search, officers located and seized a firearm, several bags of unstamped cigarettes, a quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine and other items that support possession for the purpose of trafficking in illegal drugs. A portion of the cocaine was packaged into small bags and apparently prepared for distribution.
Two people were safely arrested at the residence.

Justin Deveau, 36, of Bangor, and Ashley Bangay, 36, of Amiraults Hills, are both charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, and
  • Offences related to the Customs and Excise Act and Canada Revenue Act.

Deaveau and Bangay were released on conditions pending an upcoming court appearance at Digby Justice Centre on November 4.
