Community Arena in Pictou County to Receive Upgrade Funding.
Pictou County residents will see upgrades to a community facility with provincial grants.
“Shared community spaces promote physical activity, access to resources and social interactions for people of all ages,” said Marco MacLeod, MLA for Pictou West, on behalf of Allan MacMaster, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “Ongoing improvements and maintenance are critical to ensure these spaces remain accessible, functional and effective in meeting the community’s needs.”
The Hector Arena, operated by the Hector Arena Rink Commission, hosts programs, events and other sporting activities. It received funding to purchase a new Zamboni and install accessible doors.

“On behalf of the Hector Arena Commission, I want to thank the Province of Nova Scotia for funding our new ice resurfacer through the Rink Revitalization Fund. Special thanks to former MLA Karla MacFarlane for driving this project forward and MLA Marco MacLeod for sealing the deal. We couldn’t do it without the support of the Town, County and our dedicated volunteers. Thank you, all.”
