Drone Footage Used For First Time in Lobster Gear Tampering Case, $5000 Fine Issued.
On October 17, the Georgetown Provincial Court in Prince Edward Island sentenced an individual to a fine of $5,000 and a suspension for the first seven days of the 2025 lobster fishing season in lobster fishing area 26A for gear tampering.
The offences occurred during the 2024 fishing season and the images were captured by remotely piloted aircrafts. This was the first time drone imagery was used in court in our Gulf Region.
