Antigonish RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit Has Charged a Linwood Man With Drug Offences.
The Antigonish RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged a man with drug offences after a search warrant was executed in Linwood.
On December 5, 2022, as part of an ongoing investigation, Antigonish RCMP SCEU, with assistance from the Inverness/Richmond RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit, Antigonish County District RCMP and Guysborough County District RCMP, executed a search warrant at a property in Linwood, where a 35-year-old man was safely arrested. During the search, RCMP officers located and seized cocaine, cannabis, psilocybin, tobacco, cash and a trailer. The seizure is valued at approximately $500,000.
Shane Thomas Richard, 35, of Linwood, has been charged with:
• Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (3 counts);
• Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Distribution (Cannabis Act);
• Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling (Cannabis Act);
• Unlawfully Possessing Unstamped Tobacco (Excise Act, 2001);
• Possessing Tobacco on Which Tax has Not Been Paid (Nova Scotia Revenue Act);
• Possessing Tobacco Not Bearing a Prescribed Mark (Nova Scotia Revenue Act)
Richard was released on conditions, which includes a curfew, by a Justice of the Peace and will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on February 9, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.
