27-year-old New Glasgow Man Charged With Drug and Weapons Offences.

Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man with drug and weapons offences after a single vehicle crash on Hwy. 104 in Kemptown.

On February 8, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Colchester County District RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Hwy. 104 in Kemptown. RCMP officers learned that an SUV had been travelling on Hwy. 104 when it left the road and came to rest in the tree line.

An RCMP officer observed that the driver, and sole occupant, a 27-year-old New Glasgow man, was displaying signs of impairment. The man was given the Approved Screening Device Demand, but would not provide a suitable sample of breath for the ASD to make an analysis of his blood alcohol concentration. The man was arrested for Refusal. During a search incidental to arrest, a set of “brass knuckles” were located on the man and seized. He was subsequently transported to the Bible Hill RCMP Detachment.

While a second RCMP officer was waiting at the scene for a tow truck to arrive, witnesses advised that prior to police arrival, the driver had entered the woods with a bag and returned empty handed. The RCMP officer located a single set of footprints leading from the SUV into the woods and followed them. Approximately 50 feet from the SUV, the RCMP officer located a bag containing two large vacuum sealed bags of suspected cocaine, which were seized.

Travis Greencorn, 27, of New Glasgow, has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Refusal to Comply with Demand and Failure to Comply with an Undertaking. Greencorn was held in custody overnight and will appear in Truro Provincial Court later today.

As part of this investigation, RCMP officers also seized flavoured vape cartridges and two cellular phones.

The investigation is continuing.
