Police Investigating Fatal House Fire.
New Glasgow Regional Police is investigating a fatal house fire that occurred on Pleasant Street, New Glasgow.
On Saturday December 23, at approximately 1:08 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Fire Department, Stellarton Fire Department, Linacy Fire Department, Trenton Fire Department, Pictou County REHAB Unit and Emergency Health Services responded to a report of a house fire on Pleasant Street New Glasgow. Upon arrival of emergency services, the residence was full of smoke and fire. Two fatalities were located that were inside the residence as fire crews continued to extinguish the fire for several hours.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Criminal Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Office of the Nova Scotia Fire Marshal, the Medical Examiner’s Office and the Forensic Identification Section of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
New Glasgow Regional Police continue to be on scene at this time as investigators continue to gather information and evidence as to the cause of the fire.
No further information will be released on the fatalities until family members have been notified.
