Traffic Stop Leds to Seizure of Drugs and Charges For Three People.
On February 9, at approximately 3:05 a.m. Millbrook RCMP, with assistance from the Colchester County District RCMP and Truro Police Service, initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on William Barnhill Rd., as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.
During the traffic stop, officers observed that the vehicle passengers were not wearing seatbelts. Two of the three passengers then provided false identification to officers. The two men were subsequently arrested. Officers searched the vehicle and seized a quantity of what is believed to be cocaine, methamphetamine, hydromorphone and diazepam, and a scale. The third passenger, a woman from Truro, was then arrested.
Craig Andrew Pike, 40, of Milbrook; Malique Dae-Shawn Olowu, 20, of Debert; and Haylie Lauretta Smith, 22, of Truro have each been charged with Trafficking in Substance (four counts each).
Pike has also been charged with Wilfully Obstructs a Peace Officer, Resist a Peace Officer, and Being at Large Without Excuse.
And Olowu has also been charged with Wilfully Obstructs a Peace Officer and Failure to Comply with an Order (four Counts).
Pike was remanded into custody and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on February 21, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
Olowu was held in custody and later released on conditions by the court. He will return in Truro Provincial Court on February 21, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
Smith was later released on conditions and will appear in Truro Provincial Court on May 1, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
