Man Charged With Attempted Murder Following Multiple Assaults.

Antigonish County District RCMP have charged a man with attempted murder and other offenses following multiple assaults that occurred on Paqtnkek First Nation.

As a result of the investigation, Antigonish County District RCMP has charged Allan Michael Paul with:

  • Attempt to Commit Murder;
  • Aggravated Assault;
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose;
  • Breaking and Entering with Intent;
  • Assault with a Weapon Causing Bodily Harm;
  • Uttering Threats;
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking (two counts);

Paul was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on February 28, 2024 at 9:30a.m.

Background:

February 23, 2024, Paqtnkek, Nova Scotia… Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating multiple assaults causing bodily harm that occurred on Paqtnkek First Nation.

On February 23, at approximately 4:58 a.m., Antigonish County District RCMP responded to a report of multiple injured victims following assaults inside a residence on Treaty Lane Extension.

Responding RCMP officers located a 37-year-old woman, a 33-year-old woman, a 42-year-old man and a 41-year-old man inside a residence. Officers learned that a 25-year-old man had already been transported to the hospital. All parties were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

The victims and the suspect were all known to each other.

The investigation is in the initial stages and remains ongoing with the assistance from the RCMP Police Dog Services, the RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Antigonish County District Street Crime Enforcement Unit. More information will be available as the investigation progresses.
