Police Recover an Estimated Over Quarter Million in Stolen Property.

Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged two people with property offences after a search warrant at a home in West Brook.

Following an investigation where a search warrant was executed on February 27 at a home in Maccan, Cumberland County (SCEU) investigators became aware that properties believed to be stolen had been moved to a different location.

On March 22, 2024, the Cumberland SCEU which is comprised of members of the Amherst Police Department and Cumberland District RCMP, with assistance from the Amherst Police Department Major Crime Unit and Cumberland County District RCMP, executed a search warrant at a home on Hwy. 2.

At the home, police safely arrested a 60-year-old West Brook man and a 58-year-old West Brook woman then located and seized vehicles, welders, generators, chainsaws and miscellaneous tools. The total value of all property seized is estimated to be at approximately $260 000.00.

The pair will be facing charges of:

  • Obstruct a Peace Officer;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime of a Value Exceeding $5000.00;
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime of a Value Not Exceeding $5000.00;
  • Tampering with vehicle identification number.

Both accused were released on conditions and are scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on May 27, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
