Missing person: Update on search for Adair Townsend.

The New Glasgow Regional Police and Pictou County District RCMP is continuing to ask for the public’s assistance to locate 73-year-old Adair Townsend, who was last seen in the Mount William Road, Highway 106 and Landfill Road areas on the early morning of April 9.
Since the initial search on Monday April 8, a number of resources were deployed, including multiple teams from the Nova Scotia Ground Search and Rescue Association, Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) including teams from Pictou County, Colchester, Pugwash, West Hants East Hants, Springhill, Halifax Regional, Musquodoboit Valley, Eastern Shore, Sheet Harbour, Straight Area, Valley, Cape Breton, Queens, Digby, Barrington, North Queens, Annapolis County, Lunenberg County, New Glasgow Regional Police, New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit, Pictou County District RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables Air Services, the New Glasgow Fire Department, the Alma Fire Department, and Emergency Health Services.
Search teams have conducted an extensive search in the Mount William, Pictou County, area. More than 4700 volunteer hours were expended, searching dense wooded areas, streams, trails, streets and waterways.
The search efforts were suspended Saturday evening, April 13, but may be reactivated if any new information is received.
Police continue to ask the public to spread the word through the community and social media on the whereabouts of Adair Townsend.
Adair Townsend is described as:
Female
5 foot 2 inches tall
110 pounds
Grey medium-length hair
Wearing a dark grey/blue coat
Wearing black Doc Martens boots
Wearing glasses
The investigation is ongoing by the New Glasgow Regional Police and the Pictou County District RCMP.
There is no indication of any criminality at this time.
