Man Charged With Serious Offences After Shelter in Place Alert.

Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man with firearms offences following a report of a man with a gun in #BibleHill on April 19.

On April 19, at approximately 8:22 a.m., Colchester County District RCMP, with the assistance of Truro Police Service, several RCMP detachments, districts and units, including Northeast Nova Traffic Services, Indian Brook Detachment, East Hants District, Millbrook Detachment, Pictou County District, Halifax Regional Detachment, Police Dog Services, Air Services, Emergency Response Team, Northeast Nova Major Crime, and EHS, responded to a complaint of a man carrying a firearm on Hillcrest Ave. in Bible Hill.
Schools in the area were put on lockdown and the RCMP issued an alert via Alert Ready to Colchester, Cumberland and Pictou Counties, and East Hants.

At approximately 9:12 a.m. Truro Police officers arrested a 38-year-old Bible Hill man without incident on Main Street in Bible Hill. The man was turned over to the RCMP.

Colchester County District RCMP has charged Thomas Francis Joseph MacGillivray with:

  • Uttering Threats (two counts)
  • Using Firearm in Commission of Offence
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Mischief
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Intimidation

MacGillivray appeared before the Court and was remanded in custody. He will be back in Truro Provincial Court today.

The investigation is ongoing.
