Awards of Excellence in Seafood, Sportfishing Presented for Exceptional Achievement.

Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Kent Smith has recognized exceptional achievement in the seafood and sportfishing sectors with the Minister’s Awards of Excellence.

“The people and businesses receiving these awards are leaders in our industries and communities across Nova Scotia,” said Minister Smith. “I thank them for their outstanding work and commitment to building a strong foundation for the future.”

Recipients of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister’s Awards of Excellence are:

  • Sportfish Conservation Award – Nova Scotia Salmon Association
  • Sportfish Development Award – Collaborative Environmental Planning Initiative (Bras d’Or Lake region)
  • Sustainability Award – Hamilton’s Fish Farm (Roland Hamilton, founder and CEO)
  • Quality Focus Award – Abriel Fisheries Company (Janet Abriel, Business Administrator)
  • Innovation Development Award – Deep Cove Aqua Farms (Andy Schnare, President)
  • Lifetime Achievement Award – Adlai Cunningham, Director, Sea Star Seafoods Ltd.
