Two Youth Charged in Relation to Two Separate Serious Incidents.
Police lay charges in weapons incidents
Halifax Regional Police has charged two youth in relation to two separate weapons incidents.
On July 18 at approximately 6:05 p.m. police received a report of a disturbance at a business in the 700 block of the Bedford Highway. Three people attended the business, but they were refused service because they failed to provide identification. After a disagreement, they eventually left the business. A short time later, they returned. The two youth approached the employee, one of them showed what is believed to be a firearm and threatened the employee. The employee was not physically injured.
Yesterday, at approximately 8:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of an impaired driver in the area of Prince Arthur Avenue in Dartmouth. Officers located the vehicle on Stephen Street in Dartmouth, arrested the driver and passenger and seized a loaded handgun, a quantity of cocaine and prescription pills.
A 17-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:
- Possession of a firearm or prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime (x2)
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
- Occupying a vehicle containing an unauthorized restricted weapon (x2)
- Possession of a firearm without a license (x2)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm (x2)
- Carrying a concealed weapon (x2)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace (x2)
- Storing a firearm contrary to the regulations
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Pointing a firearm
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
- Assault with a weapon
- Failure to comply with conditions of a court order (x2)
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order (x2)
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
Another 17-year-old youth is also scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court today to face charges of:
- Possession of a firearm or prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime (x2)
- Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a firearm in a vehicle (x2)
- Possession of a firearm without a license (x2)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm (x2)
- Carrying a concealed weapon (x2)
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace (x2)
- Storing a firearm contrary to the regulations
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Pointing a firearm
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
- Failure to stop a motor vehicle
- Operation of a conveyance while impaired
- Breach of probation (x6)
- Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order (x4)
