Two Charged With Impaired Over the Long Weekend.
Operation Impact results in charges of Impaired Driving and other Motor Vehicle Act violations by New Glasgow Regional Police over long weekend.
As part of Operation Impact that took place over Thanksgiving weekend, New Glasgow Regional Police charged two impaired drivers and charged four other drivers under the Motor Vehicle Act.
On October 11, at 1:45 a.m., New Glasgow Regional Police on routine patrol observed a Red Honda Motorcycle proceeding through a stop sign with the passenger on the back of the motorcycle not wearing a helmet. Police conducted a traffic stop and the 21-year-old male driver was charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and failing to stop at a stop sign. The 22-year-old male passenger was also charged for failing to wear a helmet.
On October 11, at 9:48 p.m., New Glasgow Regional Police responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision where a female driver fled the scene. Upon investigation officers were able to immediately locate the 50-year-old female driver. The driver was charged with refusal.
Both drivers arrested for Impaired Operation were later released and are both scheduled to appear in court at later dates.
Other Motor Vehicle-Off Road Vehicle Act charges included expired plates, failing to stop at a stop sign, no helmet and unregistered vehicles.
As part of an ongoing enforcement if you see or suspect a driver is driving impaired, pull over to the side of the road and call 911. Take note of the vehicle description and plate number if possible. Reporting impaired drivers increases the safety of our streets and roads.
