Police Investigates Thefts From Vehicles.

New Glasgow Regional Police investigates thefts from vehicles, New Glasgow, N.S.

New Glasgow Regional Police are investigating nine incidents of thefts from vehicles throughout New Glasgow, that occurred sometime between Thursday night October 24 to early Friday morning October 25, where personal identification papers and valuables were stolen.

New Glasgow Regional Police are advising the public to lock their vehicles. Lock it or Loose it has been the general message to prevent thefts from vehicles. In the past 24 hours police have reports that the areas of Company Street, Lavinia Street and Terrance Street area have seen over nine thefts from vehicles. Many of the vehicles were left unlocked and valuables were in plain view. Police notice an increase in these theft related crimes this time of year as the holiday season is right around the corner. Thefts from vehicles can occur at any time of day, day or night, at any time of day.

“This is clearly a crime of opportunity, where criminals will focus on the unlocked vehicle rather than to focus attention on locked vehicles,” said Constable Ken Mac Donald of the New Glasgow Regional Police.
