Charge Laid in Fire That Destroyed Business.
Meteghan RCMP has charged one man related to a fire that damaged a building in December 2023.
On December 14, 2023, RCMP officers and fire services responded to a report of a suspicious fire at a business Maza Rd. in Bangor. Officers attended and located an incendiary device, which was seized along with other evidence and surveillance video from other nearby buildings.
On December 16, a second suspicious fire at this business destroyed the building.
Investigators worked with partners including the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and the RCMP National Forensic Lab Services in Ontario to collect and analyse exhibits related to the December 14 fire. The process included identifying and analyzing forensic DNA found on the incendiary device.
On November 4, Tyler Langford, 33, of Weymouth, was charged with Arson – damage to property. Langford is in custody for other offences, and will have a first court appearance related to this investigation on January 20, 2025.
