Stunting Charge After Driver Observed at 103 km/h in Town of Stellarton.
Police lay stunting charges
Stellarton Police Service has charged a driver for stunting this week.
At approximately 11:53 p.m. on November 18th , a member of the Stellarton Police Service observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on South Foord Street, Stellarton. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed at 103 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Foord Street in the Town of Stellarton is a 50 km/h zone and driving at these speeds is extremely dangerous to all road users including pedestrians.
A 22-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record. In addition, the driver was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was driving was seized.
