New Glasgow Police Charge Young Driver with Stunting on Busy East River Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On May 3 at approximately 2:00 p.m., a New Glasgow Police officer conducting traffic enforcement on East River Road observed a black Honda Civic travelling 103 km\/h in a posted 50 km\/h zone. The vehicle was also operating without a license plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A traffic stop was conducted, and a 17-year-old driver from Pictou County was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for stunting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver received a summary offence ticket, an immediate seven-day license suspension, and the vehicle was seized.
East River Road is a busy thoroughfare in Pictou County and at the time of the incident, traffic volume was moderate to heavy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the Motor Vehicle Act, any driver exceeding the speed limit by 50 km\/h or more may be charged with stunting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A stunting charge carries a fine of $2,422.50 for a first offence, six demerit points, and a seven-day roadside license suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Glasgow Police remind motorists to drive safely and obey posted speed limits. Anyone who witnesses reckless or unsafe driving is encouraged to contact New Glasgow Police at 902-752-1941, or call 911 in an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
