Three people are facing charges after two incidents involving the attempted theft of BB guns from Canadian Tire stores in Halifax and Dartmouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On July 3, at approximately 2:55 p.m., police responded to a reported theft at the Canadian Tire on Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. Investigators say two males and a female entered the store and broke into a display case containing BB guns. The two males allegedly stole several BB guns before all three suspects fled on foot before officers arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following day, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to a weapons complaint at the Canadian Tire on Lamont Terrace in Dartmouth. Staff reported that the same trio attempted to break into a display case containing BB guns but were unsuccessful. As they tried to leave the store, the female suspect allegedly sprayed an employee with a sensory irritant before fleeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers quickly located and arrested all three suspects without incident. A police service dog later located and seized a canister of sensory irritant believed to have been used during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators determined the three suspects arrested in Dartmouth were also responsible for the theft at the Halifax Canadian Tire the previous day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eighteen-year-old Garik Johnny is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court to face charges of robbery and disguise with intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 16-year-old male is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court on charges including robbery, disguise with intent, possession of break-in instruments, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, failure to comply with an undertaking, and two counts of breaching a probation order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 14-year-old female is scheduled to appear in Halifax Youth Court at a later date. She is charged with robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of prohibited or restricted weapon ammunition without a licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
