{"id":13391,"date":"2026-08-29T06:46:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-29T09:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=13391"},"modified":"2026-08-29T06:46:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-29T09:46:07","slug":"pictou-county-man-facing-serious-charges-after-arrest-in-new-glasgow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2026\/08\/29\/pictou-county-man-facing-serious-charges-after-arrest-in-new-glasgow\/","title":{"rendered":"Pictou County Man Facing Serious Charges After Arrest in New Glasgow."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU) has charged a Pictou County man with drug and weapons offences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, PCISCEU learned that a man was selling cocaine and methamphetamine throughout the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On August 27, officers observed the man in a BMW SUV travelling along Hamilton Rd. in Westville. The vehicle then drove to a residence on Bells Ln. in New Glasgow. There, the man exited the SUV carrying a backpack. He and three other occupants of the vehicle were safely arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A subsequent search of the man\u2019s backpack resulted in the seizure of approximately 50 grams of crack cocaine, 30 grams of methamphetamine, a quantity of cash, and an air-powered handgun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glen Robert Rent, 39, has been charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rent is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on August 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three other people who were arrested were released without charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nova Scotians are encouraged to report criminal activity, including the illegal sale of drugs, to their local police.
