Guysborough County District RCMP has arrested a man and seized firearms after an investigation in Fox Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On January 4, 2023, Guysborough County District RCMP received a report of an assault that had occurred in July 2022, at a residence on Hwy. 16 in Fox Island. RCMP officers learned that a 49-year-old man had assaulted and threatened a woman and that the man was also illegally in possession of firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On January 6, RCMP officers executed a search warrant at the home and safely arrested the man. During the search, RCMP officers located and seized three rifles, a shotgun, a pellet gun, ammunition and soft body armour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 49-year-old Fox Island man has since been released on conditions and will be facing charges of Assault, Uttering Threats, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (5 counts) and Unsafe Storage of a Firearm (5 counts). He will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on February 1, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
