{"id":5989,"date":"2024-01-05T18:49:59","date_gmt":"2024-01-05T21:49:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=5989"},"modified":"2024-01-05T18:50:00","modified_gmt":"2024-01-05T21:50:00","slug":"rcmp-arrest-man-for-drug-and-weapon-offences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/01\/05\/rcmp-arrest-man-for-drug-and-weapon-offences\/","title":{"rendered":"RCMP Arrest Man For Drug and Weapon Offences."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Halifax District RCMP&#8217;s Community Action Response Team (CART) has arrested a man and seized two vehicles as part of a drug and weapons investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December&nbsp;2023, CART received information that a man was trafficking drugs, targeting unhoused people in the Lower Sackville area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the man was selling drugs in exchange for cash or bartered items, such as gift cards, from a camper he had parked on public property on Cobequid Rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This morning, RCMP CART, assisted by the RCMP Street Crime Unit and Halifax District RCMP general duty officers, executed a search warrant at the camper and safely arrested the&nbsp;56-year-old Lower Sackville man who was driving back to the camper in a Ford pickup truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a search of the vehicles, officers located and seized items such as cocaine, pills (suspected opioids), a conducted energy weapon, a crossbow, replica firearms (.357\u00a0caliber revolver and a break-barrel air rifle), ammunition, sensory irritant, cash, gift cards and unstamped tobacco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/2024-01-05_smp_halifax_cart_search_23-154035_1-800x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5990\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The man is being held in custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later today to face numerous charges including, but not limited, to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (two counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Weapon Obtained by the Commission of an Offence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s alarming that the accused targeted vulnerable unhoused people,&#8221; says Inspector Cory Bushell, Operations Officer East, Halifax District RCMP. &#8220;Our officers will continue to work with partners to help promote the safety of people experiencing homelessness in this area.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source : RCMP Release <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Halifax District RCMP&#8217;s Community Action Response Team (CART) has arrested a man and seized two vehicles as part of a<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_uf_show_specific_survey":0,"_uf_disable_surveys":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,10,12,13,18],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5989","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-featured","category-general","category-latest","category-news","category-top-stories"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5989","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=5989"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5989\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":5991,"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/5989\/revisions\/5991"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5989"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=5989"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=5989"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
