On January 12, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Pictou County District RCMP, fire and EHS responded to a report of a collision on Hwy. 104 in New Glasgow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arrival at the scene, RCMP officers learned that a Honda CRV was travelling eastbound on the highway when it struck a deer, and was then hit from behind by a transport truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver and lone occupant of the CRV, a 42-year-old woman from New Glasgow, was transported to hospital by ambulance. She was then flown by LifeFlight to Halifax, where she later succumbed to her injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver and sole occupant of the transport truck, a 61-year-old New Brunswick man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hwy. 104 at Exit 25 was closed for several hours, but has since reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
