{"id":6131,"date":"2024-01-19T16:38:02","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T19:38:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=6131"},"modified":"2024-01-19T16:38:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-19T19:38:03","slug":"suspect-sought-for-assault-of-a-rcmp-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/01\/19\/suspect-sought-for-assault-of-a-rcmp-officer\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect Sought For Assault of a RCMP Officer."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On January&nbsp;18, at&nbsp;1:53&nbsp;a.m., a Kings District RCMP officer observed a blue&nbsp;2010&nbsp;Hyundai Tucson being driven erratically on Highbury Rd. and conducted a traffic stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the traffic stop, to verify level of impairment, the officer demanded the male driver exit the vehicle to provide breath samples into an approved screening device. The driver refused and fled the scene, driving over the officer&#8217;s foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officer attempted to complete another traffic stop with the vehicle but the driver refused to stop. The suspect&#8217;s vehicle appeared to have mechanical issues and came to a stop on the exit\u00a012\u00a0ramp. The suspect fled on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/suspect1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6133\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/suspect3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6132\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/suspect2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6134\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A search of the area was conducted by Kings District RCMP, with the assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, but the search was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect&#8217;s vehicle was towed to the New Minas RCMP Detachment where it will ne examined by the RCMP Forensic Identification Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officer was injured and treated at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The officer has since been released from hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect is still at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone with information or who can identify the suspect is asked to contact the Kings District RCMP at\u00a0902-679-5555.
