The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service has completed the autopsy and ruled the death of the 40-year-old man a homicide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Issiah Julian, the 27-year-old man of Paq’tnkek who was arrested at the scene, was charged today with second degree murder. Julian has been remanded into custody and will next appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on March 6, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating a suspicious death that occurred in Paq\u2019tnkek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On February 4, shortly before 3:00 a.m., Antigonish County District RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a home on Petow Loop Extension in Paq\u2019tnkek. The victim is a 40-year-old male of Paq\u2019tnkek, and his death is being treated as suspicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That morning, a 27-year-old Paq\u2019tnkek man, known to the victim, was safely arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At this time, investigators do not believe this was a random act and there’s no risk to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation, led by Northeast Nova RCMP Major Crime Unit, is ongoing and being assisted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner’s Service and RCMP Forensic Identification Section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
