{"id":6563,"date":"2024-03-19T14:41:31","date_gmt":"2024-03-19T17:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=6563"},"modified":"2024-03-19T14:41:32","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T17:41:32","slug":"two-arrested-after-assault-on-fisheries-and-oceans-officers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/03\/19\/two-arrested-after-assault-on-fisheries-and-oceans-officers\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Arrested After Assault on Fisheries and Oceans Officers."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On March&nbsp;16&nbsp;at approximately&nbsp;10:52&nbsp;p.m. RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of an assault on a peace officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the investigation, RCMP officers learned that Fisheries and Oceans Canada fishery officers had stopped a red Silverado in the Tantallon area in relation to the&nbsp;<em>Fisheries Act<\/em>. During the stop, the vehicle fled in the direction of the officers. No one was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At approximately,&nbsp;11:20&nbsp;p.m., Halifax Regional Police officers located the vehicle on Hwy&nbsp;102. RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment was advised and a traffic stop was initiated by both agencies. The driver, a&nbsp;34-year-old man from Parrsboro, and sole passenger, a&nbsp;21-year-old man from Parrsboro, were safely arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The driver was released on conditions to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on May&nbsp;16,&nbsp;2024. He will be facing charges of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assault a Peace Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assault with a Weapon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flight from Peace Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resisting a Peace Officer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The passenger was released without charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment is continuing with the Criminal Code investigation.&nbsp;Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment at&nbsp;902-490-5020.
