{"id":6996,"date":"2024-05-05T09:08:21","date_gmt":"2024-05-05T12:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=6996"},"modified":"2024-05-05T09:08:22","modified_gmt":"2024-05-05T12:08:22","slug":"two-arrested-after-multiple-gas-station-robberies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/05\/05\/two-arrested-after-multiple-gas-station-robberies\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Arrested After Multiple Gas Station Robberies."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">West Hants District RCMP Street Crime Enforcement Unit (SCEU) has charged a man following robberies at gas stations in Upper Tantallon and Garlands Crossing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 10, at approximately 11:55 p.m., West Hants District RCMP received a report of a robbery at a gas station on Hwy. 1 in Garlands Crossing. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the business stated that it was a robbery, demanded money and cigarettes, then fled on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 13, at approximately 8:50 p.m., RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of a robbery at a gas station on French Village Station Rd in Upper Tantallon. RCMP officers learned that a man entered the business threw a bag on the counter and demanded it be filled with cash and cigarettes. The man then fled in a Toyota Yaris waiting nearby with $1,200 cash and cigarettes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the information and evidence gathered, investigators identified a man believed to be involved in the incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 24, West Hants RCMP SCEU observed a vehicle driven by the suspect and requested the assistance from the Kentville Police Service. Officers attempted a traffic stop near Middle Dyke Rd., in North Kentville, but the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and fled from police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 30, 2024, West Hants RCMP SCEU, with assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team, the General Investigation Section (GIS) of the HRP\/RCMP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, Kings District SCEU, West Hants District RCMP GIS and West Hants District RCMP, executed a search warrant at a home on Riverview Rd. in Hantsport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the residence officers safely arrested a 43-year-old Hantsport man and a 34-year-old Halifax woman. A search followed during which officers located and seized a rifle, a cell phone and a cannister of sensory irritant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eric Arnold Hubley, 43, has been charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Robbery (two counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Disguise with Intent to Commit an Offence (two counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Theft (three counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flight from Peace Officer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Operation While Prohibited<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hubley was held in custody and appeared in Kentville Provincial Court where he was remanded. He will return in court on May 6, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 34-year-old woman was held in custody for an outstanding warrant of arrest.
