{"id":7010,"date":"2024-05-06T14:37:51","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T17:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=7010"},"modified":"2024-05-06T14:37:52","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T17:37:52","slug":"new-glasgow-resident-receives-coronation-medal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/05\/06\/new-glasgow-resident-receives-coronation-medal\/","title":{"rendered":"New Glasgow Resident Receives Coronation Medal."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nova Scotians were awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of significant service during the inaugural investiture ceremony at Government House in Halifax today, May 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The medal recipients represent a broad cross-section of Nova Scotians who have made significant contributions to Canada, the province or their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHis Majesty has dedicated his life to the service of people throughout the Commonwealth, championing youth, environmental stewardship, Crown-Indigenous relations and service provided by those in uniform. In this spirit, the Coronation Medal honours those who have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to their professions and the well-being of the province,\u201d said Lt-Gov. Arthur J. LeBlanc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The medal program was established by the Government of Canada in May 2023 with the support of the King and is administered by the Chancellery of Honours, on behalf of the governor general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quick Facts:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the medal will be awarded to 30,000 Canadians<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>along with nominations from a diverse cross-section of national organizations, each MP and senator can nominate 20 people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the ceremony in Nova Scotia, on the first anniversary of the King\u2019s coronation, is the first taking place in Canada<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The medal recipients are:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scott Baker, Halifax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Marie Bourinot, Eastern Passage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Johnny Butler, Shelburne<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Angus (Gus) Cameron, Halifax<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharon Davis-Murdoch, Dartmouth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grand Keptin Antle Denny, Eskasoni<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cpl.
