{"id":7022,"date":"2024-05-07T13:06:34","date_gmt":"2024-05-07T16:06:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=7022"},"modified":"2024-05-07T13:06:35","modified_gmt":"2024-05-07T16:06:35","slug":"alcohol-believed-factor-in-double-fatality-boating-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/05\/07\/alcohol-believed-factor-in-double-fatality-boating-incident\/","title":{"rendered":"Alcohol Believed Factor in Double Fatality Boating Incident."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Annapolis District RCMP is investigating a fatal boating incident that occurred on the Annapolis River in Granville Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Annapolis District RCMP, fire services, Ground Search and Rescue and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, responded to a report of a 14-foot vessel that had sank, with four people aboard, on the Annapolis River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When RCMP officers arrived at the scene, it was learned that two people, a 46-year-old Granville Centre man and a 27-year-old Weymouth man, had safely made it ashore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three fire services search boats, a CH-149 Cormorant helicopter and a C-130 Hercules fixed wing aircraft, from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, were deployed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A short time later a third person, 49-year-old Granville Centre man, was located by a search boat and transported to hospital by EHS where he was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Search efforts continued through the evening. At approximately midnight, the remains of a 26-year-old Granville Centre man were located and recovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this time, alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.
