{"id":7252,"date":"2024-05-29T10:00:55","date_gmt":"2024-05-29T13:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=7252"},"modified":"2024-05-29T10:00:57","modified_gmt":"2024-05-29T13:00:57","slug":"province-launching-campaign-schools-to-get-people-involved-in-municipal-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/05\/29\/province-launching-campaign-schools-to-get-people-involved-in-municipal-politics\/","title":{"rendered":"Province Launching Campaign Schools to Get People Involved in Municipal Politics."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Province is launching campaign schools in advance of this fall\u2019s municipal elections, aiming to equip Nova Scotians with the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to run for municipal office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCampaign schools are designed to support aspiring municipal leaders throughout the province,\u201d said John Lohr, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. \u201cThrough this initiative, we hope to create a more inclusive environment where Nova Scotians from all backgrounds feel empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and experiences to their communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Department is collaborating with the Status of Women Office and consultant Sea Change CoLab on the schools. Sessions will be held in three communities, each on a Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sydney, June 15, Eltuek Arts Centre<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Truro, June 22, Rath Eastlink Community Centre (people may also attend online)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shelburne, July 13, Shelburne Community Centre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All sessions are open to anyone interested, and participants can be reimbursed for child care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshops will offer practical guidance on various aspects of municipal campaigning, including strategic planning, community engagement, fundraising and communications strategies. The schools aim to support potential candidates and their teams in the 2024 municipal elections.
