{"id":7481,"date":"2024-06-18T12:50:25","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:50:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=7481"},"modified":"2024-06-18T12:50:26","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:50:26","slug":"police-investigate-fatal-collision-in-james-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/06\/18\/police-investigate-fatal-collision-in-james-river\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Investigate Fatal Collision in James River."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating after a fatal head-on collision in James River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 17, Antigonish County District RCMP, along with fire and EHS, responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 1200-block of Hwy. 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial investigation suggests that a Nissan Murano SUV, heading eastbound on Hwy. 4, crossed the centre line after negotiating a curve and collided head-on with a westbound semi-truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The driver and sole occupant of the SUV, a 90-year-old Heatherton man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The driver and sole occupant of the semi-truck, a 50-year-old Westville man, was physically uninjured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the road was closed for several hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Antigonish County District RCMP continue to investigate, with the assistance of the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: RCMP Release <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Antigonish County District RCMP is investigating after a fatal head-on collision in James River.
