{"id":7650,"date":"2024-06-28T16:21:06","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T19:21:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=7650"},"modified":"2024-06-28T16:21:07","modified_gmt":"2024-06-28T19:21:07","slug":"75-year-old-man-charged-with-being-impaired-after-three-vehicle-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/06\/28\/75-year-old-man-charged-with-being-impaired-after-three-vehicle-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"75 Year Old Man Charged With Being Impaired After Three Vehicle Crash."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>East Hants District RCMP have charged a man with impaired driving offences after investigating a three-vehicle collision in Mount Uniacke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On June 27, at 10:45 a.m., East Hants District RCMP, along with fire and EHS, responded to a three-vehicle collision in the 200-block of Hwy 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial investigation suggests that a Mazda CX-5 was stopped in the westbound lane of Hwy. 1, waiting to turn left onto Richard John Dr., when it was struck from behind by a Dodge Ram. The Mazda was pushed into the opposing lane, where it collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado travelling eastbound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The driver of the Mazda, a 72-year-old woman from Lower Sackville, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The two youth passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 55-year-old man from East Uniacke, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries. The passenger of the Dodge Ram, a 64-year-old woman from Scotch Village, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers noted that the driver of the Dodge Ram, a 75-year-old man from Scotch Village, was displaying signs of impairment. When a demand was made by officers for a sample of the man\u2019s breath, he refused and was arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Donald Russell Harvey has been charged with the following offences:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm (2 counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Refusal to Comply with Demand (2 counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obstruct a Peace Officer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>He was remanded into custody and will appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on June 28 at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The road was closed for a number of hours as a collision reconstructionist attended the scene.
