{"id":7662,"date":"2024-06-28T20:14:20","date_gmt":"2024-06-28T23:14:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=7662"},"modified":"2024-06-28T20:14:21","modified_gmt":"2024-06-28T23:14:21","slug":"homicide-victims-cemetery-monument-vandalized-police-are-investigating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/06\/28\/homicide-victims-cemetery-monument-vandalized-police-are-investigating\/","title":{"rendered":"Homicide Victim\u2019s Cemetery Monument Vandalized,  Police Are Investigating."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Meteghan RCMP Detachment is investigating after a cemetery monument for homicide victim Vernon Doucet was vandalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit recently announced charges being laid in the homicide of Doucet, who died in hospital after being injured in a home invasion in February&nbsp;2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On June&nbsp;26, RCMP officers learned that a stone monument to Doucet had been removed from its location in the cemetery and spray painted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s believed that this incident is related to the recent announcement of charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meteghan RCMP Detachment is investigating, with the assistance of the RCMP&#8217;s Forensic Identification Section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Meteghan RCMP Detachment at\u00a0902-645-2326.
