Queens District RCMP is investigating a serious single-vehicle crash following a flight from police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On July 27, Queens District RCMP was conducting traffic enforcement at a checkpoint on #Milton Rd. near the town of Liverpool. At approximately 1:00 a.m., RCMP officers observed a Volkswagen Golf approach the checkpoint and then make an abrupt U-turn to head north on Highway 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An RCMP officer quickly left the checkpoint in an attempt to complete a traffic stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A short time later, the vehicle was located after it had left the roadway and come to rest on its roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver, a 24-year-old Sable River man, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital by EHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The passenger, a 25-year-old woman from East Green Harbour, was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene. Hwy. 8 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
