{"id":8164,"date":"2024-08-02T14:20:11","date_gmt":"2024-08-02T17:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=8164"},"modified":"2024-08-02T14:21:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-02T17:21:57","slug":"police-find-illegal-and-stolen-items-during-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/08\/02\/police-find-illegal-and-stolen-items-during-search\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Find Illegal and Stolen Items During Search, 8 Arrested."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cumberland County District\u00a0RCMP seized substantial amounts of drugs, firearms, illegal tobacco and stolen ATVs during the searches in Birchwood and Hansford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July&nbsp;31,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca\/en\/news\/2024\/cumberland-county-district-rcmp-search-a-wanted-man-search-warrants\">Cumberland County District RCMP executed search warrants<\/a>&nbsp;at homes in Birchwood and Hansford.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the property in Hansford, officers located and seized more than&nbsp;1,500&nbsp;Methamphetamine tablets,&nbsp;150&nbsp;Oxycodone tablets, approximately a kilogram of crystal meth,&nbsp;40&nbsp;firearms, illegal tobacco and six stolen all-terrain vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the search site in Birchwood, officers located and seized a stolen utility trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the eight people arrested, five were later released without charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;39-year-old man, wanted for being at large without excuse for parole violations, was turned over to a correctional facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A&nbsp;31-year-old Hansford woman was later released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on September&nbsp;30,&nbsp;2024, at&nbsp;9:30&nbsp;a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steven Matthew Wilson,&nbsp;39, has been charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Possession of Property Obtained by Crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (three counts)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unlawful Possession of Tobacco Products<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Wilson appeared in Amherst Provincial Court and was remanded into custody. He will return in court on August&nbsp;6,&nbsp;2024, at&nbsp;9:30&nbsp;a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A ninth person, Stephen Joseph Maloney,&nbsp;33, also known as Dakota, is believed to have been at the Hansford residence prior to officer&#8217;s arrival. He remains at large and wanted on a province-wide arrest warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the RCMP&#8217;s National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST).
