{"id":8848,"date":"2024-09-20T18:14:43","date_gmt":"2024-09-20T21:14:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/?p=8848"},"modified":"2024-09-20T18:14:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T21:14:44","slug":"agreement-to-continue-advancing-french-language-services-across-province","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nnpress.ca\/index.php\/2024\/09\/20\/agreement-to-continue-advancing-french-language-services-across-province\/","title":{"rendered":"Agreement to Continue Advancing French-Language Services Across Province."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nova Scotia has signed a new five-year funding agreement with the Government of Canada to continue advancing French-language services across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canada-Nova Scotia Agreement on Minority-language Services commits both governments to investing $11.8 million each between 2023 and 2028 to support the development and vitality of the Acadian and francophone community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to renew this agreement with the federal government as we look at ways to provide ongoing support to departments, offices and agencies of government to provide programs and services which respond to the priorities of Nova Scotia\u2019s Acadian and francophone community,\u201d said Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie. \u201cThis agreement strengthens our capacity to deliver French-language services and continue to promote, protect and preserve the French language and culture in Nova Scotia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nova Scotia is receiving 81 per cent more in federal funding compared to the previous agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quotes:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFrom coast to coast to coast, official-language minority communities make up part of our rich cultural tapestry.
