Two Arrested After Assault on Fisheries and Oceans Officers.

On March 16 at approximately 10:52 p.m. RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of an assault on a peace officer.

Through the investigation, RCMP officers learned that Fisheries and Oceans Canada fishery officers had stopped a red Silverado in the Tantallon area in relation to the Fisheries Act. During the stop, the vehicle fled in the direction of the officers. No one was injured in the incident.

At approximately, 11:20 p.m., Halifax Regional Police officers located the vehicle on Hwy 102. RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment was advised and a traffic stop was initiated by both agencies. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Parrsboro, and sole passenger, a 21-year-old man from Parrsboro, were safely arrested.

The driver was released on conditions to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on May 16, 2024. He will be facing charges of:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Resisting a Peace Officer

The passenger was released without charge.
